LG Taps New Market with its First Gaming Laptop

LG is introducing a gaming laptop for the first time ever!

LG has announced its first-ever gaming laptop. The name is 17G90Q, falling under the brand’s UltraGear lineup.

Most onlookers will first take note of the machine’s design. The computer is covered in gray aluminum, and contrast is added by a splash of purple. The 17-inch wide device weighs in at only 5.82 pounds.

Inside, the eleventh generation Intel Tiger Lake H CPU and NVIDIA RTX 3090 MAX-Q graphics card work together to get visuals to the 300Hz 1090p IPS display. To keep the fun going for hours on end, a 93Wh battery pack does the trick.

The ability to perform is no concern either, especially for the serious gamer, since the computer offers 1TB of storage space. 32GB of RAM gives the gaming laptop an additional boost during gameplay.

Of course, perfect wireless is a necessity, too. WiFi-6E support and Intel’s Killer Wireless come to the rescue. Beyond that, there’s an HDMI port, MicroSD slot, headphone jack, USB 4 and 3.2 Gen slots, and an RJ45 port. The sound system is rumored to be tremendous as well.

In its own December 20, 2021 report, in Seoul, Korea, LG Electronics stated this: “A powerful performer with a seriously sleek design, the CES 2022 Innovation Award-winning laptop delivers sublime gaming experiences and the freedom to enjoy them anywhere, at any time.”

Seo Young-Jae, senior vice president and head of IT business unit (LG Electronics Business Solutions Company) elaborated: “Our first-ever gaming laptop, the 17G90Q differentiates itself from competing products with its premium hardware, generous, high-quality screen, and a sleek, lightweight design that maximizes convenience and portability.”

Bringing on-the-go gaming to the masses is a welcome change of pace in the tech world considering gaming is so popular. There are currently 2.81 billion gamers with a market of $189.3 million according to 2021 estimates.

LG is aiming to release the product by the spring of 2022. A price point has not yet been announced by the company.
